Corrosion damage, tolerances and inaccuracies often make the full-surface installation of bridge bearings difficult. MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim® – adapts flexibly to any gap geometry and ensures a force-fit and form-fit connection between the component surfaces.
Crane rails become deformed due to high loads, while corrosion causes additional damage to the substructure. MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim® – provides a stable foundation when refurbishing crane rails by compensating for unevenness and creating a full-surface, force-fit connection between the rail and the substrate.
Precise horizontal alignment is crucial when erecting silo towers. MM1018, as an innovative gap compensation material, ensures a force-fit and even connection that guarantees long-term stability.
The perfect connection of head plate joints is crucial for the stability of a structure. MM1018 reliably compensates for gaps and tolerances and, with its fluid form, ensures a full-surface, friction-locked connection – for maximum stability and precision.
Durable, corrosion-resistant connections are essential in hydraulic steel construction. MM1018 completely compensates for gaps, creates a force-fit connection and protects the steel connection from corrosion-related damage.
In order to withstand the highly dynamic loads acting on a wind turbine, it is necessary that the forces can be transmitted 100%. MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim® enables this 100% force-fit connection and thus ensures the safety and stability of wind turbines.

Our MM1018 is fully cured after 24 hours and has then reached its high compressive strength of 161 N/mm2. From then on, the fully filled joint can be fully loaded.
Based on the investigations regarding the low loss of preload force of only ~ 9% after 50 years and the investigation of the fatigue strength, in which the material withstands >10 million load cycles (the same number as in investigations for steel), it can be concluded that the full-surface connection is stable and very durable for decades. The low creep coefficient and shrinkage also allow this conclusion to be drawn.
But the practical experience is even more impressive: since 1993, when MM1018 was first used to install bearings on the Cologne South Bridge, the full-surface connection has been proven to still be in top condition, as it was on day one.
Our MM1018 has a general building authority approval that recommends the use of the gap compensation material up to a gap height of 10 mm. However, MM1018 – the liquid lining sheet – is also ideally suited for higher gap dimensions and has been used many times. Tests up to a height of 140 mm are convincing. A combination with conventional lining sheets is also possible in order to achieve the abZ recommendation of a gap height of 10 mm.
