A 3D printed kayak from the treadmill! – But how?

A 3D-printed Kayak sealed with dichtol at Maker Faire Prague 2025

The two Youtubers Ivan Miranda and Jón Schone have put together a special project.
Their goal was to be able to present a 3D-printed kayak at Maker Faire Prague 2025. But what exactly does the treadmill have to do with it now?

Both Youtubers love a challenge. It has long been a goal of both of them to convert a treadmill into a 3D printer.
Consider it done! At Formnext last year – the largest trade fair for 3D printing in Germany – they decided to realise their idea and turn a treadmill into a 3D printer to print a kayak.

The result? The result is impressive and the print worked better than either of them expected. Despite a few hurdles, they are both sure that a treadmill works well as the basis for a 3D printer! Together, they presented and tested their kayak at Maker Faire Prague a few weeks ago.

What we are particularly proud of: We were allowed to support this unique project. As a kayak like this should be waterproof, it was treated with our product dichtol AM UV Protection. This not only protects it from water, but also from UV radiation and other external environmental influences!

Our recommendation: Watch the video to find out what challenges they had to overcome and what the end result looks like.

It’s definitely worth it!
