A particular challenge during assembly in steel construction is time; structures must be assembled efficiently within predefined time frames. If there are delays due to production-related tolerance deviations, for example when mechanical engineering components are connected to steel components.
The two areas of mechanical engineering and steel construction have different tolerance requirements, but must still fit together perfectly. Here, a quick and time-saving method must be found to close these gaps and gapes in a friction-locked manner; one method could be the classic lining plates, which, however, have to be adapted in a very complex and time-consuming manner as the complexity of the gapes increases. Another alternative is our MM1018 liquid lining sheet in combination with the flexible “injection pad” application method. This combination is particularly suitable for difficult, fast applications in steel construction.
Two films, individually cut to the respective shape of the joint and welded together, form the shell of an injection pad. The pad is cut-resistant and extremely stretchable and it is possible to fill the gap on site with MM1018 Liquid without any air bubbles and with a precise fit without the need for time-consuming sealing work. By using the pads, gap filling can be carried out in a time and cost-efficient manner, even with complex geometries.
The MM1018 metal polymer is a two-component reactive resin system that bonds steel-to-steel and steel-to-concrete joints securely and with one hundred percent adhesion. It is fully cured and fully loadable after just 24 hours.
Thanks to its honey-like consistency, MM1018, including the film, adapts to any structure and forms even the smallest features with a perfect fit. Even the edges of screw holes are no problem without impairing the free movement of the screws. Our foil pads therefore open up new possibilities for hard-to-reach areas without any special effort, even if the structure has to be dismantled. The injection pads themselves can be adapted to all standard and individual shapes and can also be manufactured in large quantities.
