MM1018 instead of demolition: Innovative solution for the bell tower of Christ Church

As part of a renovation project on the bell tower of the Christus Church in Wolfsburg, the installation of the standard-compliant and contractually agreed fitting screws on the bell frame presented the contractor with major challenges.

In the search for an alternative solution, the client suggested the installation of injection screws in combination with our gap compensation product MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim®. After intensive examination of the technical requirements, all parties involved were convinced by this solution.

The client’s idea was to replace the existing connections step by step on site with injection screws. The existing drill holes could be enlarged by one millimeter with little time and effort. This was a significant advantage over producing a precisely fitting borehole, the accuracy of which would then have to be checked to a tenth of a millimeter.

Many thanks to the chair at TU Dortmund University, whose technical expertise contributed significantly to the successful implementation. The chair had already been entrusted with the research project on the Leverkusen bridge at the beginning of the year, which is also how contact with DIAMANT was established.
Based on the evaluation of the research report, the customer quickly chose our product MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim®.

The installation of the injection screws supplied from the Netherlands and the subsequent grouting with MM1018 proved to be very straightforward in practice.
