Efficiently securing the basis for renewable energy generation
The ever larger steel towers of modern wind turbines, to which the turbines are attached, are subjected to enormous forces. This poses technical challenges for the flange connections with which the towers of the wind turbines are connected to their foundations by bolts. To prevent these bolts from loosening, the connecting flanges must be flat and tight to the millimeter. Where safety, stability and efficiency are of the utmost importance, the Liquid Lining Sheet® MM 1018 comes into its own.
Conventionally, gaps or out-of-tolerance areas on the ring flange surfaces of wind energy towers are either corrected manually by inserting steel lining or comb plates or milled flat using large and expensive portable milling machines. With MM1018 P, unevenness, gaps and out-of-tolerance joints in steel components can be compensated for quickly, easily and efficiently. The Liquid Lining Sheet® creates a force-fit and form-fit connection in a short space of time – without any mechanical effort, simply and cost-effectively.
“We are proud to support the development of the wind energy industry. By ensuring the required tolerances, we are helping to guarantee the integrity of these large structures and thus secure the production of green electricity for many years to come,” says Carsten Kunde, Managing Director of DIAMANT Polymer GmbH, with satisfaction.
Gap compensation carried out by experienced DIAMANT specialists
In order to achieve the best possible frictional connection between the foundation and tower at the Piiparinmäki mega wind farm in Finland, the Finnish wind farm operator took advantage of the services offered by DIAMANT Polymer GmbH. The gap compensation on the imposing ring flange connections was carried out by the experienced installation specialists from the Mönchengladbach-based company.
The Liquid Lining Sheet® MM1018 is currently unique in its form and is characterized by very high compressive strength, fast curing and permanent corrosion and weather resistance. Compared to conventional steel lining sheets, MM1018 always fits in every situation and does not need to be mechanically processed or adjusted. This saves time and costs during installation and enables smooth building acceptance.
The experience gained from over 1,000 successful structures and a general building authority approval for use in prestressed connections make the gap compensation from the Mönchengladbach-based polymer experts the first choice for eliminating gaps, gaps and tolerance overruns in steel-steel connections.
