Mönchengladbach, 11 March 2025 – DIAMANT ultrametal Smart is the globally proven universal solution for eliminating cavities, voids, imperfections, faulty holes and wear points with a perfect metal character. The high-strength polymer material is one of the few epoxy resin systems that is no longer carcinogenic and mutagenic, making it REACH and RoHS compliant in the long term. Ultrametal Smart is also used in the coating of pumps, containers and heat exchangers and is also a high-performance adhesive for fastening bushings and components. The polymer material, which comes in a handy 2-component cartridge, enables safe, highly efficient practical application without mixing errors.
The laboratory technicians and engineers at DIAMANT Polymer GmbH have succeeded in developing an optimised formula for the high-performance polymer system, making ultrametal Smart one of the few epoxy resin systems on the global market that is no longer carcinogenic or mutagenic and therefore REACH and RoHS compliant in the long term. Thanks to the easy-to-use 2-component cartridge, the resin and hardener are only mixed in a 1:1 ratio when applied to the workpiece. This ensures additional application safety, as direct contact with the unmixed hardener is ruled out. The integrated mixing helix eliminates mixing errors and minimises waste.
The REACH Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 is the European Chemicals Regulation for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. REACH has been in force since 2007 and is intended to ensure a high level of protection for human health and the environment. RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) serves to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with EU Directive 2011/65/EU. It regulates the use and placing on the market of hazardous substances in electrical appliances and electronic components.
DIAMANT ultrametal Smart is highly resistant to physical, thermal and chemical influences, does not corrode and offers good adhesion to almost all substrates. The solvent-free epoxy resin system has high mechanical strength and can withstand continuous temperatures of up to 160 °C. It offers a longer pot life and is less brittle. This makes it easier to work with mechanically without cracking or chipping. DIAMANT ultrametal Smart hardens after around five hours at 20°C and after around 30 minutes with forced drying using an infrared radiator.
DIAMANT ultrametal Smart can be used to safely and reliably carry out surface repairs and touch-up work on cast parts made of different alloys.
Whether iron, steel, bronze or aluminium: the blowholes, porosities, cavities and defects repaired with ultrametal Smart have an impressive metal-like finish after curing and mechanical processing. The repaired areas can also be machined or manually processed and painted over, just like the metal of the casting.
