Innovative UV protection solution for 3D printing: pore-deep sealing and protection against colour and material fading
Mönchengladbach, 23 July 2024 – DIAMANT Polymer GmbH has developed an innovative solution for the pore-deep impregnation of 3D-printed components with permanent UV protection. With dichtol AM UV Protection, additively manufactured components are efficiently made gas- and liquid-tight. At the same time, they are protected against UV radiation and the resulting discolouration. This saves time and money and ensures that 3D printed components retain their mechanical, aesthetic and functional properties over long periods of time.
dichtol AM UV Protection is the ideal solution that cures quickly at room temperature for components where ensuring impermeability and mechanical strength is of crucial importance. The polymer system quickly and reliably ensures pore-deep sealing and impregnation of additively manufactured workpieces. The low-viscosity, polymer-based formula enables deep penetration into the pores of the material for permanent gas and liquid sealing.
Pore-deep impregnation with permanent UV protection in a single step
Protection of 3D-printed components against UV radiation and the resulting fading or discolouration is ensured in a single work step. Ideal for workpieces that are frequently exposed to the sun or other UV sources, dichtol AM UV Protection forms an effective barrier against UV radiation, preserving the aesthetic integrity of the components in the long term. This is particularly relevant for industries such as automotive, where appearance and material durability play a crucial role. In addition, dichtol AM UV Protection helps to increase the stability of 3D printed parts by improving their mechanical strength and resistance to environmental influences. The application also improves the surface quality of the parts, often eliminating the need for time-consuming post-processing. After rapid curing, the surfaces can be easily painted over.
The sustainable universal solution for common printing processes and materials
dichtol AM UV Protection is well suited for the FDM, SLS and MJF printing processes as well as for materials such as ASA, ABS, PETG, PA and PC. The application possibilities in 3D printing are practically unlimited, as workpieces can be impregnated, sealed and protected by dipping, brushing, spraying or injecting. dichtol AM UV Protection sustainably extends the service life of components, which reduces waste and material consumption. The improved surface quality makes it possible to reduce the number of post-processing steps, which lowers the consumption of energy and resources in production.
