During the renovation of the bell tower of the Christus Church in Wolfsburg, installing the required fitting bolts on the bell frame posed a major challenge. As an alternative solution, the client suggested using injection bolts in combination with the gap compensation product MM1018 – The Liquid-Shim®. After thorough technical testing, this method convinced everyone involved.
The idea was to gradually replace the existing connections with injection bolts. The necessary enlargement of the drill holes by just one millimetre could be achieved with little effort – a clear advantage over the complex process of producing precisely fitting drill holes.
Special thanks go to the chair at TU Dortmund University, whose expertise contributed significantly to the implementation. Contact with DIAMANT had already been established through a previous research project on the Leverkusen Bridge. Based on the research results, the customer quickly decided to use our MM1018 gap compensation material.
The practical installation of the injection screws from the Netherlands and the subsequent grouting with MM1018 went smoothly. We are delighted to have been part of this exciting project and would like to thank the customer for their trust in our work.
