Precision for a 55-year-old stacker and reloader in the USA

Project overview

It is projects like this that demonstrate what true engineering excellence means. Together with ALPINE, DIAMANT was responsible for replacing the swivel track on a 55-year-old stacker reclaimer in the USA. An impressive piece of engineering history with a total diagonal of 9.2 metres.

Inspiring facts:

Product

MM1018 – The Liquid Shim®

Location

Cleveland Cliffs/USA
total diagonal
9.2 metres

MM1018 FL in use during the replacement of the swivel track on a 55-year-old stacker and reloader.

DIAMANT had the opportunity to assist with the replacement of the swivel track on a 55-year-old stacker reclaimer at Cleveland Cliffs in Burns Harbor (USA). An impressive piece of engineering history with a total diagonal of 9.2 metres.

Our tried-and-tested MM1018 levelling compound – The Liquid Shim® – was used here. As a load-bearing levelling compound, MM1018 ensures a force-fit connection between uneven surfaces and precisely compensates for unpredictable gaps. The perfect basis for maximum stability and durability.

Strong collaboration with ALPINE:
A big thank you to the team at ALPINE Bulk Materials Handling, with whom we carried out the project on site. It was a very good collaboration, from the technical coordination to the implementation in Burns Harbour!

Special challenge:
During installation, it became apparent that the gap was significantly larger than originally assumed. Thanks to the high flowability and load-bearing capacity of our product MM1018 – The Liquid Shim®, this unforeseen deviation was also reliably compensated for.

This project shows how innovation, experience and partnership-based cooperation can set new standards even with 55-year-old technology.
